Keeping your teeth healthy and strong is important. If you brush twice every day, floss daily, and visit our team once every six months, you’ll be taking important steps to protecting your oral health. Brushing and flossing are very important, but there are a few other steps you can take to protect your pearly whites. In fact, did you know that the foods you eat can have a major impact on your teeth?

You probably know that calcium strengthens your bones, but did you know it can also strengthen your teeth? In fact, there are several drinks and foods with plenty of calcium in them, such as cheese and milk. While these foods that are high in calcium can strengthen and remineralize your enamel, acidic foods can weaken it.

Phosphorous is another important part of your diet, in fact, next to calcium it is the most abundant mineral in the body. In fact, phosphorous can actually replace minerals that your teeth have lost. Phosphorus can be found in food like almonds, peanuts, cashews, and other nuts. Nuts are also useful because they promote saliva flow, which will further strengthen your teeth. Chickens and other meats are also good sources of phosphorous.

Please remember that following a healthy diet is also an important part of keeping your children’s teeth healthy. Sometimes, you may struggle to convince your little one to eat healthy foods. Luckily, there are several healthy options your little ones may enjoy. For example, you could give them a dip with vegetables, juicy watermelon, berries and yogurt, and cheddar, and apples.
