If you’ve struggled with advanced gum disease, or you have multiple teeth that have suffered from advanced tooth decay, chances are good you’ve lost some of the function of your mouth. If you’ve lost multiple teeth in one part of your mouth CrossPointe Dental might recommend fitting you for a custom partial.

The process of being fitted for a partial begins with your CrossPointe Dental dentist examining your mouth and taking a few X-rays. This helps us to assess the overall health of your mouth and identify any other problematic teeth that need to be addressed. If you have other compromised teeth in the area, they might need to be extracted before you can be fitted for your new partial.

Next your dentist will then form an impression of the area. This will be sent to a dental lab, where your new custom partial is made.

Once the dental lab has completed your partial, CrossPointe Dental will call you back in for a brief second appointment to fit your new partial in place. This might include making some minor adjustments, and also giving you tips for cleaning and maintaining the partial and surrounding teeth. Many people with partials prefer to use denture adhesive to secure their partial in place and help block out food particles.

If you have multiple compromised or missing teeth in one area of your mouth, and you are curious if a partial is right for you, you can call CrossPointe Dental at 801-224-7337 to schedule an appointment.
